NBC 5 Football Minute: Southlake Carroll

After a successful first season as the head coach at the school at which he once quarterbacked to a state championship, Riley Dodge believes there are big things ahead in 2019 at Southlake Carroll.

"Yeah, I've said it a million times, I've got a great staff and we've finally got our feet underneath us a little bit," Dodge said. "We've got a lay of the land with this school district and this program and the kids have really bought in. So I'm really settled in."

Dodge now has to replace one of the top running backs in the state with T.J. McDaniel now at SMU, but has back an electric playmaker at wide receiver and defensive back in R.J. Mickens, who has committed to Clemson.

"The one thing that people don't realize about him is how he understands football," Dodge said. "That's how he plays fast. Obviously he's a great player and a great athlete, but he's a student of the game, a great leader, and I'm glad he's in green, black and white."
