NBC 5 & Wingstop Celebrate 2016-2017 Scholar Athletes

Ten North Texas seniors were nominated and were named Wingstop's Scholar Athlete of the month during the 2016-2017 school year and won a $1,000 scholarship.

On Thursday, June 15, NBC 5 and Wingstop honored the ten seniors and their parents with a banquet.

NBC 5's Pat Doney emceed the event where the seniors received their official $1,000 check, which the students can use as they wish at college.

Winners and their parents feasted on Wingstop wings as Doney highlighted their achievements, showing the NBC 5 videos that featured the winners.

Each student also received a plaque and other NBC 5 and Wingstop swag in their gift bags.

Carrollton Ranchview High School senior Riley Fleming is May's Wingstop Scholar Athlete and received a $1,000 check.
Woodrow Wilson High School senior Lawson Freeman May's Wingstop Scholar Athlete and received a $1,000 check.
Flower Mound Marcus senior L.J. Daniel is April's Wingstop Scholar Athlete and received a $1,000 check.
Allen High School senior Joyce Tiong is March's Wingstop Scholar Athlete and received a $1,000 check.
Denton Guyer's Bryce Jackson is February's Wingstop Scholar Athlete and received a $1,000 check.
Sachse High School senior Morgan Whisenhunt is January’s Wingstop Scholar Athlete and received a $1,000 check.
Van Alystyne senior Cage Sawyers is December’s Wingstop Scholar Athlete and received a $1,000 check.
