Nadel's Consecutive Innings Streak Ends

Announcer misses Yankees game because of torn retina.

Rangers radio announcer Eric Nadel underwent surgery to address two tears in the retina in his right eye in New York City on Thursday morning.

The surgery was performed by Dr. Richard Spaide. Nadel flew back to Dallas this afternoon. He will be examined there tomorrow with more surgery being a possibility.

He is expected to be sidelined for at least the remainder of this roadtrip, which concludes with 3 games in Boston, and probably longer.

Nadel had worked 3176 consecutive regular season games on Rangers radio plus 10 post-season games. He last missed a game in 1989, when he did not work 4 straight games from May 29-June 2 due to the passing of his father.

Steve Busby will join Dave Barnett in the broadcast booth for all 3 games in Boston.
