With three games remaining, Dallas Cowboys running back DeMarco Murray is just 168 yards short of the franchise record for rushing yards in a single season, which is currently held by the NFL’s all-time leading rusher, Emmitt Smith.

Murray is humbled just to be mentioned with Smith, who set the record in 1995 with 1,773 yards.

“Obviously, you’ve got to respect the best running back ever to play the game,” Murray said, per the Dallas Morning News. “Just to be mentioned in the same breath as him is definitely humbling. It’s a lot of credit to the O-line and the coaches who put the game plan together and us as a team. It’s definitely not an individual accolade. A lot of people put a lot of work into it, not just me.”

This has been Murray’s approach to individual accomplishments--and he’s had quite a few--all season. Even when around his family, apparently, Murray doesn’t have any desire to talk about non-team-related milestones.

“My family knows better than to talk to me about it,” Murray said. “I don’t get too much of it. These guys (teammates), they talk about it a little bit every now and then. I kind of tune them out.”
