In a season-ending countdown, we'll weigh in on the six most disappointing Rangers in what was arguably the most disappointing season in franchise history.
No. 2: Shin-Soo Choo, OF
2014 stats: 123 games, .242 batting average, .340 on-base percentage, 19 doubles, 13 home runs, 40 RBIs, three stolen bases
Choo was signed to a big deal over the winter to be the Rangers' leadoff man for the long term as one of the game's biggest on-base machines going. He posted a .423 on-base in 2013 with the Reds and was a force to be reckoned with.
For the first handful of weeks this season, Choo picked up where he left off. Then, he rolled his ankle in Oakland, sat out a week but avoided the DL, came back and was never really the same from that point moving forward.
Give Choo credit, he fought to stay on the field and displayed toughness, but in the process he got worse and worse on the field before eventually shutting it down and missing the rest of the season. It's one kind of disappointing to not give effort, it's another to play poorly through injury, and Choo did the latter.
The hope is he'll be ready to roll for 2015. Time will tell.
