Moreland Shows Signs of Resurgence

Before he pulled his hamstring in Boston more than a month ago, Texas Rangers first baseman Mitch Moreland appeared to be on the verge of a breakout season, something the Rangers have waited a few years now and were probably about finished waiting for.

Before that game in Boston, Moreland was hitting .288 with 12 homers, but now his average is down to .265 and he's still stuck on 12 homers in his 17 starts since returning from the DL. He's hitting below .200 over that span of games and would be a huge factor for an offensive resurgence if he can start hitting the ball again.

On Thursday night, he showed some positive signs of that, going 3-for-4 to match his hit output for the previous seven games.

Moreland is now hitting .300 on the current road trip, which is just standing at four games right now, but if he can keep this up heading into the all-star break and hit the ground running in the second half he could go a long way in giving the Rangers some much-needed pop in their lineup.
