Look, a quick glance at Kellen Moore's stat line from Sunday's loss to Washington in the season finale would point to the fact that the signal-caller was phenomenal in his second career NFL start.
If you actually watched the game, you know that's not exactly the case.
Moore passed for 435 yards and three touchdowns with two interceptions, completing 33 of his 48 pass attempts. Let that sink in for a moment — Moore now is the fifth Cowboys quarterback in franchise history to throw for 400 yards in a game.
But Moore wasn't good. Instead, he was dealing with a Redskins' defense who could give zero you-know-whats about the game on Sunday. They were still recovering from their NFC East champion hangover and had their playoff fate sealed already. They didn't care about what happened on Sunday, and it showed, especially after the Redskins took a quick 21-0 lead to erase any doubt in that game.
Yet, Jerry Jones was impressed, so go ahead and count on Moore being around in 2016.
"I think he's got the potential to be a winning No. 2," Jones told reporters following the game. "I think he can ultimately win games in the NFL."
So, we have that to look forward to.
