Mo Claiborne: “My Wait Won't Be Long”

Claiborne has been sidelined all offseason as he rehabs a surgically repaired wrist

In a recent appearance on the NFL Network, Dallas Cowboys’ first round pick Morris Claiborne, who has been sidelined all offseason as he recovers from a surgical procedure on his left wrist, delivered five words that will come as a breath of fresh air for Cowboys fans: “My wait won’t be long.”

The cornerback out of LSU has admitted that he’s been frustrated by having to sit out of practices this summer, but many believe that he could be ready to participate as early as July 25, when Dallas kicks off a three-day mini-camp--which serves as a sort of warm-up for training camp for rookies and select veterans at Valley Ranch.

"I will finally get my shot to show all the coaches and players what I can do," Claiborne said, per the Shreveport Times. "I just started therapy two weeks ago. I'm trying to get the motion back in it, the blood flowing. I should be ready when camp starts."

Claiborne continued that he’s been taking mental reps in preparation for what should be an interesting pair of training camp matchups, in Claiborne vs. Miles Austin and Claiborne vs. Dez Bryant. But, the 2011 Jim Thorpe Award winner said, he won’t truly know how to defend the team’s top two receivers until he gets some live reps under his belt.

"I've been watching them a lot,” he said. "You won't totally figure out (how to stop them) until you get on the field. I'm looking forward to going up against those guys. They can make me better."
