MLB Network Rankings Shun Rangers

Jeff Banister seems to be a master motivator, considering he gave me goosebumps with the Rangers' commercial they rolled out during Super Bowl 50 last month.

While players and managers claim to not pay attention to the media, you have to wonder if Banister will use the latest set of MLB player rankings by MLB Network to light a little fire under his team for the upcoming season.

The network ranked the league's top 100 players considering past performance with the most emphasis placed on 2015 and projections for 2016, and only two Rangers made the cut — Adrian Beltre at No. 20 and Prince Fielder barely getting in at No. 97.

Yu Darvish was in the rankings last year but dropped out after missing the whole year to injury and Cole Hamels was ranked 50th last year but inexplicably dropped out completely.

As far as the Rangers' chief rivals, Mike Trout held down the No. 1 spot while Houston's Jose Altuve was No. 12 and young phenom shortstop Carlos Correa was No. 13.
