Rolando McClain isn't exactly the most reliable guy on the Cowboys' roster, but he's a veteran linebacker who's played well in his two seasons with Dallas since the Cowboys talked him out of retirement in his 20s to acquire him via a trade from Baltimore.
McClain was great in 2014 but then missed the beginning of the 2015 season due to a suspension and battled some injury problems. But when he was playing, he was good enough.
Now, McClain is back for his second one-year stay with Dallas after inking a one-year deal on Wednesday worth $4 million with the possibility of another $1 million in incentives. McClain took on the middle linebacker role in 2015 after the Cowboys moved Sean Lee to the outside, setting him up for a career year at his new position.
The signing allows Dallas to look for some middle linebacker depth in the draft instead of looking for a starter in the early rounds and gives McClain incentive to have another strong season so he can maybe earn that multi-year deal after 2016.
