McCann Prepares To Step In For Scandrick

Cornerback Orlando Scandrick underwent a battery of tests on Monday to determine the severity of his concussion, which he suffered in the second quarter of Sunday’s victory over Indianapolis, and is currently listed as questionable for Sunday night’s match-up with the Philadelphia Eagles.

If Scandrick is unable to play against Philly, he will be replaced by rookie Bryan McCann, who stepped in to replace Scandrick in the slot against Indy, and fared pretty well, despite not having played in the nickel all season.

McCann, an undrafted rookie out of SMU who was only promoted to the active roster a few weeks ago, said that there was some adjustment period against the Colts, but that he was pleased by his performance on the whole.

I graded out decently, but I made a lot of mistakes I shouldn’t have made,” McCann said, per ESPN Dallas. “This was the first time I played nickel since the preseason, so there was a little adjustment. I knew what to do, but I still had a little rust to dust off. I definitely could have played better, but I was proud of how I performed.”
