Mazara New Top OF Prospect in Baseball

With top prospect Byron Buxton's recent call-up to the bigs for the Twins, there was a slot vacated as the top outfield prospect in baseball.

Your new owner of that distinction? None other than Rangers' No. 2 prospect Nomar Mazara, who slots only behind Joey Gallo. Mazara was given the honor by ESPN's Tommy Rancel, who also named Gallo the top corner infield prospect in baseball earlier this week.

Mazara was recently promoted to Triple-A Round Rock, and the 20-year-old has picked up right where he left off in Frisco.

It's becoming pretty clear why the Rangers were so adamant about keeping Mazara in the Cole Hamels negotiations, and you'd think it won't be too terribly long before he gets a shot in Arlington like Gallo did earlier this year.
