The Texas Rangers have been saying for quite some time that they are hoping for a strong finish to the lost 2014 campaign by center fielder Leonys Martin.

And so far, ever since a big heart-to-heart with manager Ron Washington last week, Martin is gladly obliging.

The Cuban center fielder, who's batting .500 in the Rangers' last eight games (15-for-30), was once again a key cog in the Rangers' offense on Wednesday afternoon when he went 3-for-4. In those past eight games, Martin now has five multi-hit games.

Martin extended a two-out rally in the first inning to give the Rangers an early 3-0 lead when his RBI single scored J.P. Arencibia, and by the time the next inning rolled around, the Rangers were holding a 5-0 lead.

Martin has his season average back up to .268 after it had dipped into the .240s just a couple of weeks ago.
