If you can remember, there was one game a year ago when the Texas Rangers just ran absolutely wild on the Los Angeles Angels, stealing nearly 10 bases over the course of a road series in Anaheim.
Other than that, the Rangers have pretty much abandoned the running game going back to 2012 under former manager Ron Washington. Two manager later, if you include interim skipper Tim Bogar's month at the helm last year, the Rangers entered Tuesday's game with the same lack of running.
Then, a switch came on, and Texas started running, and doing it successfully.
In the first two innings of the Rangers' 8-2 win over the Angels on Tuesday, Texas stole three bases — one apiece from Elvis Andrus, Leonys Martin and Rougned Odor, and all three runners ended up scoring to help give them an early 4-0 lead after two innings.
It'll be interesting to see if the Rangers turned a new leaf in the running game on Tuesday, or if it was just another brief flash in the pan against a team susceptible to the running game.
