Lewis Puts in Another Hard Day's Work in Win

Colby Lewis has, once again, been the unsung hero and rock of the Rangers' starting rotation.

It's not the first time, but it could be the last, as Lewis will hit free agency this winter and will likely look to snap a streak of one-year deals to help re-establish his value.

It's safe to say Lewis has done that and he's figured out how to pitch again — doing so pain-free for the first time in years after his hip resurfacing surgery.

Lewis put up another really solid outing on Wednesday night against the Yankees when he tossed six innings and allowed two earned runs on seven hits with five strikeouts and no walks.

The key to Lewis' success this year has been his decreased tendency to give up long balls. He did allow a solo homer to Carlos Beltran in the second inning on Wednesday, but it was only his 16th home run allowed on the season.

If the Rangers hold on to Lewis at the trade deadline — there are teams showing interest in the veteran — it'll be interesting to see if they try to bring him back in 2016. He's still the best postseason pitcher in club history and they love his veteran presence in the clubhouse around their young pitchers, but it seems unlikely at this point.

On Wednesday night, Lewis showed Rangers fans what they might be missing, and he did it in true bulldog-ish, Lewis fashion.
