If Colby Lewis has taught us one thing, it's that he's due for a stinker from time to time.
Another thing he's taught us? He bounces back from those really well.
Lewis wasn't at his best on Monday night, allowing seven earned runs on 10 hits in six innings of work. He allowed three home runs, including a Jason Castro grand slam that briefly made things interesting in the Rangers' 12-9 win over first-place Houston.
That means he's likely going to be pretty tough for opponents to handle over the next month.
Prior to Monday's outing, Lewis had been fantastic in his four previous starts, averaging right at seven innings per start, while allowing just more than two earned runs per outing. That's really good baseball that will win you a lot of games.
The start before those four was one of his worst — 10 earned runs in four innings on 12 hits.
Before that? Six starts in which he averaged just shy of seven innings averaging about 2 1/2 runs. Again, that's winning baseball. Before that? Nine earned runs in 2 1/3 innings.

So as you can see, Lewis has had some bad outings this year, but he's always bounced back. And that's a good sign for the Rangers with his next start coming this weekend in Seattle.
