Levine Withdraws Name From Arizona GM Search

The Texas Rangers and general manager Jon Daniels already lost one top assistant this year when A.J. Preller accepted the general manager job for the San Diego Padres last month.

It looked like they might be on their way to losing another valuable piece of the front office in Thad Levine, but the longtime Daniels assistant withdrew his name from consideration for the GM opening with the Arizona Diamondbacks.

Levine will take over Preller's role as the head of the international scouting department as long as he doesn't go elsewhere should there be any more GM openings.

According to Jamey Newberg, who cited Peter Gammons, there is some talk the Colorado Rockies could be set to oust their GM, which could open a door for Levine, who is a former Rockies employee.

But right now, be happy Daniels has at least one of his two lieutenants still in place.
