LBs Coach Says Sean Lee's Excited About Move to Weak Side

The defensive captain Lee will move to the weak side full-time in 2014

If Sean Lee’s move to weakside linebacker wasn’t already a certainty (and it probably was), it likely became a certainty when the Cowboys re-signed Rolando McClain this week.

Cowboys owner and general manager Jerry Jones recently expressed hope that Dallas could retain McClain and plug him in at middle linebacker--his position in 2014, when he finished second on the team in tackles--while Lee moves from the middle to the weak side. Head coach Jason Garrett has said weakside linebacker is Lee’s natural position, and believes the move could help keep him healthy.

But how does Lee himself feel about the move?

According to linebackers coach Matt Eberflus, pretty good.

If it says ‘linebacker’ behind the position, I think he’s going to be okay,” Eberflus said, per Rainer Sabin of the Dallas Morning News. “I think that, like I said, we’ll tie all these guys together and see how they fit. And we’ll find the best position for them... Sean’s uniqueness in his ability, like a few other guys that we’ve had, he’s able to play all positions. He can really play all positions. That’s what makes him a valuable asset to our defense. He will certainly be good once we get him there and get him going. He’s really super excited and so am I.”
