La'el Collins “Extremely Excited” To See Zeke in Action

The Cowboys selected Ezekiel Elliott with the No. 4 overall pick in the draft last month

Like a lot of people in North Texas, Cowboys second-year left guard La’el Collins is “extremely excited” to see what rookie running back Ezekiel Elliott can do in the NFL.

A year after Collins joined the Cowboys as an undrafted free agent under some of the strangest circumstances we’ve ever seen with a highly-touted NFL prospect, Dallas selected Elliott with the No. 4 overall pick in the draft. Now Collins will be one of the men charged with clearing paths for the former Buckeye.

"He's a smart guy, fast guy, learns pretty fast," Collins told the team’s official website of Elliott.

Last year, it was Collins making first impressions on his new teammates, learning to live up to the highly regarded, much talked about “standard” the Cowboys’ much decorated offensive line has set for themselves—and of course, living up to that standard isn’t just a rookie year task.

“It’s a standard that we hold as a group,” Collins said. “I think coming in for me last year as a young guy really having to live up to that standard, continuing to work like those guys has helped me become a better player.”
