A year of experience makes a huge difference for NFL players, and Dallas Cowboys left guard La’el Collins is no different.
Collins started 11 games for the Cowboys after being signed as an undrafted free agent shortly after the draft last year, and played well. But at workouts this year, he has found himself more comfortable in the offense, a product simply of experience, and with that new level of comfort, Collins is free to just play—as he always has.
"Really just the game slows down for you, especially after the first year of experience knowing what to expect, knowing how hard I have to work this offseason to get stronger, faster and to be better mentally," Collins said, per ESPN Dallas. "[You] play off just natural instinct and reaction where you're not even thinking out there. That's my biggest thing this year. That's what I'm focusing on."
Collins’ counterpart on the right side, third-year guard Zack Martin, has noticed a difference in the LSU product.
"He's been awesome this offseason," Martin said. "You can tell he's more comfortable. He has a great feeling for what's going on, really coming to work every day. So we're excited to see him coming along."
