Joseph Randle Dealing with a Back Issue

Randle left Sunday's game in the first quarter after going for 24 yards on two carries

Joseph Randle started Sunday’s matchup between the Dallas Cowboys and New York Giants, but he didn’t stick around long after that, exiting for good after two carries with a back issue.

Randle remained on the sideline for the rest of the game, attempting to stay loose on a stationary bike at first and then, when it became clear that he wouldn’t be returning, simply watching with his teammates.

Man, it hurt me dearly to have to sit out there and watch my team without me,” Randle said, per Drew Davison of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram.

After the game Randle, who had 24 yards on those two carries before exiting, was short on answers where his injury was concerned.

“I know I couldn’t play today,” Randle said. “So I’m going to get in there and work super hard on getting it treated, and we’ll see where it goes from there.”

Owner and general manager Jerry Jones pointed out that it wasn’t hard for the Cowboys to give Randle his rest on Sunday, as Darren McFadden was going off for 152 yards and a touchdown on 29 carries.

“He complained a little of back cramps but didn’t limit him at all in practice so that to that extent that’s what he had,” Jones said. “It probably today it was more of McFadden was just having such an outstanding day in every part of his game. I would say from my perspective we went with the hot hand there.”
