Jerry Won't Call Sunday “Must-Win”

The Giants have a chance to pull into a tie with the Cowboys on Sunday

In all likelihood, Sunday’s Cowboys-Giants game will be crucial in determining the Cowboys' playoff hopes. But Dallas owner Jerry Jones stops short of calling it a must-win.

I don’t know that I want to go that far because of how tight this thing is, just how we see at anytime how another team can win,” Jones said, per ESPN Dallas. “When you look at our division opponents and who they are playing, and you look at who we got to play, it’s hard to measure from here. I can’t measure it for us from here. You’ve just got to see how we can come up here and win this game.”

The Cowboys are currently in second place behind the Eagles in the NFC East, after going into the bye week tied for first with Philly. New York has pulled back into the race with four straight wins after starting 0-6, and have been very vocal about the importance of this match-up.

Jones doesn’t think any of their talk will make any difference on Sunday, though.

“I have never seen any pregame quotes or during-the-week quotes that had any impact,” Jones said. “If I thought so, or we thought so, we would really be encouraging it. And I would have done more of it.”
