Report: Jerry “Loved What He Saw” Out of Jared Goff in Berkeley

Jerry Jones and Jason Garrett watched Jared Goff work out in Berkeley, CA over the weekend

Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones personally traveled to Berkeley, CA over the weekend to see former Cal quarterback Jared Goff work out live along with his head coach Jason Garrett, and at least the owner was impressed, according to Peter King of the MMQB.com.

Jones “reportedly loved what he saw,” King wrote on Saturday, in the same tweet in which he confirmed that Jones and Garrett had made the trip.

This is a somewhat curious development, as Jones has plainly told friends in the game that the Cowboys aren’t going to draft a quarterback in the first round. Beyond that, their chances at the top quarterbacks took a hit when the Rams gave up a king’s ransom to move to the No. 1 pick in the draft last week, which makes it likely that Carson Wentz and Goff—the top two quarterbacks in the draft—will go first and second, ahead of the Cowboys’ pick at No. 4.

That said, you can’t take anything for granted when it comes to Jones and the draft, or any situation in which wheeling and dealing is an option, and we seriously doubt Jones was actually there over the weekend to take in the nice weather, as he joked last week.
