Jerry Jones: “We're Not a Good Team Right Now”

On occasion, Dallas Cowboys owner and general manager Jerry Jones has been known to sugarcoat things. Sunday, after watching his depleted Cowboys team get dismantled 30-6 at home by the reigning Super Bowl champion New England Patriots, was not one of those occasions.

“We’re not a good team right now,” Jones said, per the Fort Worth Star-Telegram. “They were a much better team than we were out here today, a much better team. But lesser teams win ballgames. But they’re just a better team. They’re something for us to achieve.

“I think what we saw out there today was what New England was, more than what Dallas was not. We’ve got to get to be a better team overall, a better football team, a better everything.”

The Cowboys started off 2-0 and looking like the favorites in the NFC East, but in that second win, they lost Tony Romo for two months with a broken clavicle. They then dropped three in a row, culminating with the beating in Arlington on Sunday. The good news, we suppose, is that the Cowboys have the bye week to try get a handle on things before facing the Giants in Week 7.
