For whatever reason, Jerry Jones waited until after the Dallas Cowboys had won a game without Tony Romo to voice his displeasure with the coaching staff’s inability to win without Tony Romo.
But man did he voice that displeasure, right after his team’s 19-16 win over the Redskins on Monday night, a game Jones said the Cowboys “won on will, not tactical mastery.”
Jones then got into his disappointment with the season as a whole, and he seemed to put the blame at the feet of Garrett and co.
“I am stunned that we haven’t been able to win more games without Tony,” Jones said, per Drew Davison of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram. “And I would have thought that we could have coached it up enough, and put it together enough, that we would not have lost those games without Romo early. We would be in better shape than we are right now.”
Jones apparently takes no comfort in the fact that, at 4-8, the Cowboys are just a game back of the division lead.
“I look at it as 4-8 and won’t look at it any differently as we move up the ladder until something really special happens,” Jones said.
Of course, Jones can be upset if he wants, but Garrett is in the first year of a five-year, $30 million extension--meaning we'd doubt it'll go beyond that.
