The television slot allotted for Monday night's All-Star Home Run Derby is two hours, and of course, we'll be treated to well over three hours of it because that's just the way it is.
With 10 contestants hitting for seemingly hours at a time, the event always takes entirely too long, and then, of course, we're treated to the same tired home run calls of the well-past-his-prime Chris Berman.
On Monday, the star of the event is undoubtedly the bashing behemoth Giancarlo Stanton, but then, get a load of the rest of the "star-studded" contestants.
American League: Jose Bautista (Captain, 17 home runs); Josh Donaldson (20); Brian Dozier (18); Adam Jones (16); Yoenis Cespedes (14).
National League: Troy Tulowitzki (Captain, 21); Todd Frazier (19); Justin Morneau (13); Yasiel Puig (12); Giancarlo Stanton (21).
So yeah, you have guys with 12 and 13 home runs, and a defending champ with 14. Noticeably absent are rookie basher Jose Abreu (29), Nelson Cruz (28) and Edwin Encarnacion (26).
