Holland Tosses Gem in Front of Hockey Buddies

There might not be an athlete in DFW that loves a sport, other than his own, more than Rangers pitcher Derek Holland.

Dirk Nowitzki is a big soccer fan and might be an even bigger tennis fan, but as far as mainstream American sports, Holland has to take the cake with his love of the NHL, particularly the Dallas Stars.

Holland makes a point to go to Stars games, not only in Dallas but also on the road if given a chance, and he's been known to take his Rangers teammates to games to try to get them turned on to the sport, as well.

Holland showed off in front of all his Stars friends on Wednesday, as the Stars were in town to play the Coyotes on Thursday night and took in Wednesday's day game to watch their buddy Derek.

Holland became the first Rangers starter to go five innings in an "A game", and he did it in dominant fashion with five scoreless innings and seven strikeouts. It was the good version of Holland the Rangers are hoping to see with more consistency this season after two injury-plagued years that followed a pretty dang good 2013 season.
