Holland Returns Home to Pitch in Friendly Confines

Just a couple of weeks ago, it appeared Derek Holland might be on the outs as far as the Rangers' starting rotation was concerned once Yu Darvish returned from Tommy John surgery.

That comeback was completed on Saturday, and thanks to A.J. Griffin's injury, Holland was granted a stay of execution. Turns out, he's made the most of it.

In his last two outings, Holland has worked at least six innings and has given up just two runs in each of them even though he was given just one run of support total in both and got hit with two tough-luck losses.

Holland takes the hill on Monday to open a series against a good Indians team in his native Ohio, and he couldn't be in a better park as far as his personal history goes.

In his three career starts at Progressive Field, Holland is 2-0 with a 1.16 ERA and has one complete-game shutout to his credit.

It's obviously no guarantee — nothing is with him — that Holland will have another strong start on Monday, but he's definitely in the right place for it.
