Holland Dominates Astros to Get Win

Derek Holland turned things around with his start in Tampa last week after a few really rough outings.

On Monday night against an albeit far inferior team, Holland planted his foot firmly on the other side of the fence with the second shutout of his season in a 12-0 win over the Houston Astros to start off the biggest week, and final week, of the Rangers' regular season.

Holland picked up his first victory in nearly two months when he threw 113 pitches and never faced anything resembling trouble as he allowed just six hits while striking out nine and walking one.

Holland will make his final start of the regular season on Saturday against the Los Angeles Angels and will need to be equally good as the Rangers are basically in a position where they have to win five of their last six games with two remaining against the Astros and four coming against the Angels.

"Being consistent," Holland told ESPNDallas.com. "That's what I needed to be. I've done a good job."

The Rangers need him to keep it up now after two good outings and their postseason hopes on the line.
