After all the talk and hullabaloo that transpired with Sunday's pass interference that wasn't on Dallas Cowboys linebacker Anthony Hitchens, it was quickly forgotten exactly what Hitchens had done on Sunday.
It was a pretty big question whether the rookie linebacker, who's been a surprisingly good player this year after being selected in the fourth round of the 2014 draft, would even play on Sunday given he was battling a high-ankle sprain. Given the fact Rolando McClain had health issues of his own and ended up leaving Sunday's game pretty early on, it was especially huge that Hitchens was able to play at all, and play pretty well.
Hitchens had three tackles in the game, and had good coverage on Brandon Pettigrew on that controversial play, doing exactly what NFL linebackers in coverage are coached to do — get his hands up when he sees a receiver make a move for the ball, which Pettigrew did as he was grabbing Hitchens' facemask to push him away as the ball was coming.
Of course, there's Zach Martin, who was an All-Pro selection as a rookie this year, but aside from him, Hitchens has been a pretty obvious choice for Cowboys rookie of the year.
