The first high school football to be played in the mammoth known as the new Cowboys Stadium will be those featured in the Kirk Herbstreit Varsity Football Series presented by Burger King, which will be played on Labor Day.
Herbstreit, known more for his work on ESPN's college football coverage than his playing days as a quarterback at Ohio State, is a well-known homer for everything Ohio, and in this series he pits eight Ohio schools against each other at The Horseshoe, and seemingly eight Texas schools against each other, although there's the addition of a team from Utah and one from California thrown into the DFW mix.
Ohio has long been known to have some of the best high school football in the country, along with Texas, California and Florida, so this series' idea is a good one at its core.
