Henry Melton Leaves Valley Ranch, Jared Allen Arrives

Dallas is spending the week looking at big-name defensive ends

Free agent defensive tackle Henry Melton is off to visit the St. Louis Rams after meeting with the Dallas Cowboys on Monday. The visit with Dallas reportedly went quite well but, per Brandon George of the Dallas Morning News, nothing is in the works yet in terms of an offer.

Dallas was Melton’s third stop in free agency, the first couple being with the Minnesota Vikings and the Super Bowl-champion Seattle Seahawks. While at Valley Ranch, Melton’s surgically repaired left knee was evaluated--he is coming off a season-ending  ACL tear, suffered last September--with positive results.

Melton also got a chance to meet with defensive coordinator Rod Marinelli who, while with the Bears in 2012, oversaw the University of Texas product’s first and only Pro Bowl season. It’s thought that this relationship will only help the team’s chances of landing Melton.

Meanwhile, as Melton was wrapping up his visit in Dallas, fellow free agent defensive end Jared Allen was arriving. Allen will spend Tuesday at Valley Ranch.
