Hamilton Needs Knee Surgery, Out for the Season

Rangers outfielder Josh Hamilton's 2016 season is over, after the team announced the former American League MVP is going to have another surgery on his oft-injured knee.

"(Josh) will have surgery June 8 and will be out for the year," Rangers general manager Jon Daniels said Monday. "It's on the same knee, but is on a different part of the meniscus."

Hamilton had surgery on the knee in the off-season, and was seen on crutches in Spring Training. Daniels said the surgery is, "not totally unexpected with the shear number of procedures on his knee," but that Hamilton is, "100% committed to coming back to play next year."
