Hamilton Hoping To Get Back On Track After Off-Day

Josh Hamilton is 1-for-10 with six Ks since the All-Star break

The Texas Rangers will have not one, but two off-days this week, which makes it about as restful of a week as one can reasonably expect over the marathon that is the 162-game regular season. It is also much-needed for All-Stars like Josh Hamilton, who didn’t get a break during last week’s All-Star Break.

Per the Dallas Morning News, Hamilton said that the exhaustion only hit him on Sunday. Texas will have Monday off, before playing a two-game set with the A’s in Oakland beginning on Tuesday. The team will then get another day off on Thursday, before opening up a weekend series with the Angels in Anaheim on Friday.

I didn’t think I was that much [tired] until today,” Hamilton said. “I’m looking forward to [Monday]. I need to get back into a routine. You can’t have a routine at the All-Star Game because there is so much going on. Hopefully, I can start hitting.”

Hopefully, indeed. Since returning from the break, Hamilton is 1-for-10 at the plate with a walk and an RBI--and, as the Morning News’ Gerry Fraley points out today, he has struck out six times over this span.
