Hamels Compares Rangers' Vibe to Old Phillies' One

Cole Hamels instantly left a bad baseball situation when he was traded from the Phillies to the Rangers at the MLB trade deadline just less than a month ago.

But Hamels knows good baseball from his days in Philadelphia.

He not only won a World Series with the Phillies, he was named the World Series MVP. He also made another World Series appearance.

After his win on Sunday — his first as a Ranger — Hamels compared the current vibe in the Rangers' clubhouse to that of some of those old Phillies' clubs who made late runs to get into the playoffs, much like the Rangers are attempting to do now.

“From the very moment I was traded over here, you got that feeling,” Hamels told the Dallas Morning News. “Any time you’re making a big splash in that trade atmosphere and to keep getting guys says a lot about the momentum we have, and the front office believes we have. Now, it’s up to us to go out and deliver the type of play that we’re capable of doing.”
