In the second installment of Get to Know an Undrafted Free Agent, we look at Raymond Radway, a speed-demon of a receiver out of Abilene Christian University.
Radway had an inauspicious debut in front of Cowboys coaches at Dallas Day, when local prospects are brought in to visit with and work out for the team. The McKinney North graduate felt some jitters, dropped some balls, and came away feeling less than confident that the Cowboys would come calling.
“But I knew if they did, I could show them I could really play football,” Radway said recently, per San Antonio Express-News.
The call likely came as a result of Radway’s combination of size--he’s 6-foot-3 and a newborn baby under 200 pounds--and speed. A former track star, Radway ran the 40-yard dash in 4.32 seconds. In training camp in San Antonio, Radway impressed coaches with his ability, though, head coach Jason Garrett admits, the 24-year-old’s talent is still somewhat raw.
“He's done very well,” Garrett said. “He's a big kid who can run. He's catching the ball well. He's picking up the info well. Don't get me wrong, he's still got a long way to go. He's making mistakes.
“But he's really doing a good job in this early part of training camp, and we're looking forward to seeing him more and more.”
