Garrett: “What We Need to Do is Get Better”

The Cowboys are currently 2-6, a record that has historically meant the playoffs are out of reach

Jason Garrett knows that the Cowboys know where they are, within the playoff race.

Where they are is pretty much out of it, after an overtime loss to the Eagles sent them to 2-6. No 2-6 team has ever made the playoffs under the current format. Garrett’s aware of that stat, too, we’d imagine, but he isn’t focused so much on the hitherto unconquered uphill battle in front of the team if they want to make the playoffs--which is probably a good thing--as he’s focused on the team simply improving.

"I think you always want to address that, the perspective part of where we are, where we've been and where we're going and what's out there," Garrett said, per ESPN Dallas. "But I don't think you want to spend too much time on that. I don’t think you want to spend too much time talking about other teams in the division, playoff races and all that kind of stuff.

"What we need to do is get better. We're going to come back in here [today] and get better as a football team. We'll show them why we need to get better, how we're going to get better and we'll give them a plan going forward from what we need to do on that day to make our football team better. That’s how we’re going to approach it."
