Garrett: We Want To Get Choice The Ball

Many fans couldn’t help but wonder, after Sunday’s victory over the Indianapolis Colts, just why the Dallas Cowboys had been so hesitant in allowing running back Tashard Choice a shot. This thinking had been present for a while, really, but against Indy, Choice made his case with 19 carries, 101 yards and a touchdown while playing in place of the injured and already-struggling Marion Barber.

Jerry Jones had said in the week before that Choice wasn’t seeing time as a runner because he wasn’t performing very well on special teams. Most fans and writers took this as specious, bone-headed reasoning--which it was, and is. But special teams performance be damned, after Sunday, Choice will see time at running back.

Interim head coach said as much after Sunday’s victory over the Colts.

"Yes, absolutely, absolutely," Garrett said, per the Fort Worth Star-Telegram. "We want to get him the ball. We want to get him the ball. There’s no question about that."

In limited opportunities, Choice has done nothing but produce over three years in the league, which makes this reassuring for fans. Then again, in Dallas, one can never know. After all, the team has been impressive in the lengths to which they will go in appeasing the “starter” Barber.
