Garrett Pleased with “Growing” Brandon Weeden

Weeden threw three touchdowns and two interceptions in 2014

Dallas Cowboys head coach Jason Garrett feels good about the team’s situation at quarterback, and not just because Tony Romo is coming off what was probably the best season of his career to this point.

In 15 games, Romo completed just under 70 percent of his passes while throwing for 3,705 yards, 34 touchdowns and just nine interceptions.

But Garrett believes the man behind Romo on the depth chart, Brandon Weeden, had a good 2014 as well. Granted, we didn’t see much of Weeden last season, but behind the scenes Garrett and co. watched the 31-year-old grow as a player.

Brandon did a really nice job in his opportunities,” Garrett said, per the Dallas Morning News. “If you look at what he did--he played in three games, two he came in relief for us and the one game he started we didn’t play our best game on offense. But it was against a really good defensive team in Arizona.

“We still feel like he’s a young player who needs to play more. He’s really growing before our eyes.”
