Garrett Doesn't See Murray Slowing Down

DeMarco Murray had 75 yards on 19 carries in the win over the Lions

Dallas Cowboys head coach Jason Garrett says the team isn’t concerned that DeMarco Murray is beginning to slow down.

Murray led the league in rushing attempts by a wide margin this season, the first of his career in which he hasn’t been forced to miss time due to injury. He did suffer a broken hand in Week 15, but played through, and is still playing through, the pain.

I don’t see him wearing down at all,” Garrett said this week, per the Dallas Morning News. “I think he’s playing really well. I thought he was outstanding in the game the other day.”

Murray rushed 19 times for 75 yards and a touchdown in the 24-20 victory over the Lions, tying his season-low for attempts. But Garrett says the low relatively low carry total isn’t any indicator that the team is looking to lighten Murray’s workload.

“The concern was really the first week and what he was going to be able to do in that game when the contact happened,” Garrett said. “I think he proved early on he was going to be able to play and be functional in all aspects of the game. It really hasn’t been an issue for him.

"Any reduction in carries is almost coincidence, maybe by game plan or what happens over the course of the game. He has been functional right from the start. He has played really well.”
