Gallardo Will Pitch if Asked in All-Star Game

Yovani Gallardo is scheduled to pitch on Sunday against the San Diego Padres — the last Rangers game before the all-star break, as he'll get in two more starts before the league takes a few days off.

Gallardo would normally throw a bullpen session on Tuesday after a Sunday start, and the game happens to fall on Tuesday, meaning Gallardo will pitch if he's selected to the roster and asked to pitch, he said on Sunday.

"You always want to be a part of it if you're there," Gallardo told the Dallas Morning News.

Gallardo, who made his lone All-Star Game appearance in 2010 with the Brewers, has been superb for the Rangers this year after a bit of a rough start. The Fort Worth native is currently riding a 29 1/3-inning scoreless streak and has been the definition of a stopper this year for the Rangers. In starts following a Rangers loss, he's 6-0 with an 0.79 ERA — a trend he'll look to continue on Tuesday when he takes the hill against Arizona.
