Gallardo Looking For Run Support, Win

Yovani Gallardo leads the league in losses this season. As we all know, wins and losses for pitchers are basically a meaningless stat and not at all indicative of how a guy is pitching.

In Gallardo's case, he's not been Cy Young worthy or anything, but he isn't pitching badly, either. The best word to describe him has been "solid." On Wednesday, he'll take the hill again against the Royals looking to notch a victory and improve to 3-5 on the season. A loss for Gallardo would set a new career mark for most consecutive losses with five.

Gallardo has not allowed more than three earned runs in a game this year since his underwhelming performance on Opening Day against Oakland, when he allowed four. But the Fort Worth native just isn't getting any run support from his new team.

The Rangers have scored three or fewer runs in all but two of his eight starts this year, including four in his last three outings combined. The Rangers offense has shown some life in May, and tonight could be the night they bust through and give Gallardo some early run support. Otherwise, it could be a new career mark for Gallardo, and not one he wants.
