Gallardo Looking for Rebound Outing to Win Series

Yovani Gallardo is in the middle of a pretty rotten run of starts for the established veteran pitcher.

In his past three outings, he's allowed five earned runs in each of them and suffered through control problems while working just four innings twice and six innings in his most recent outing against the New York Yankees, a game the Rangers won.

The two starts before that three-start slump weren't great either, as he walked a combined nine batters but allowed just four combined runs. Of course, before those two, Gallardo had a streak that eclipsed 30 innings of scoreless baseball, spanning over six starts.

On Tuesday when he faces the first-place Astros, the Rangers need a rebound from Gallardo, who actually retired 11 of the last 13 batters he faced in his last start against the Yankees after a rough start to his night.

A solid night from Gallardo, who is 1-1 this year against Houston, would give the Rangers their second straight home series win and possibly move them to within a game of the second AL Wild Card spot, depending on what four teams in front of them do.
