Gallardo Gets Support, Snaps Losing Skid

Yovani Gallardo hadn't been pitching badly heading into Wednesday night's game against the defending AL champion Kansas City Royals. He just hadn't been lights out enough to overcome a lack of run support that was getting to be ridiculous.

On Wednesday, everything came together for the former Fort Worth Trimble Tech standout as he tossed a gem and got some early run support that continued throughout the game to pick up a win and end a personal four-game losing streak.

Gallardo was great, throwing just 92 pitches in seven innings of work. He gave up two runs — both in the seventh — and struck out two with one walk while scattering six hits.

The outing continued a nice run for the Rangers' injury-ravaged starting rotation, which has been the best in the American League in May.

With his next start coming in Fenway Park against the Red Sox, it was imperative for Gallardo to get in a good outing on Wednesday and break that losing skid for his own confidence, alone, and that outing should go a long way in reaffirming his confidence in himself.
