Football “Experts” Don't Think Bryant is Among Cowboys' Top 5 Players

In the latest evidence that sports are being polluted by too many fake experts espousing too many meaningless statistics, Pro Football Focus is now telling us that Dez Bryant isn’t one of the Cowboys’ five best players.

My question is this: While those nerds crunch numbers and allegedly spend hours locked in their laboratories breaking down secret film, do they ever take the time to actually watch a game? Because if they did, they’d realize how important Bryant is to the Cowboys.

PFF prides itself as having exclusive info on NFL players and teams, but their latest offering is just preposterous.

In their annual roster rankings, the Cowboys are 12th. I dunno, I mean, it’s roster rankings, right? Last time I checked the Cowboys were 4-12 last year. Sure they endured injuries, but isn’t the quality of backups included in the “roster”? Either PFF thinks head coach Jason Garrett is a bozo, or else they don’t comprehend the word “roster.”

The publication ranks the Cowboys’ Top 5 players as Tyron Smith, Zack Martin, Travis Frederick, Sean Lee and Tony Romo. I’ll argue that Bryant is better than Lee and, yes, maybe even better than Romo. Proof? In 2014, the Cowboys went 12-4 without Lee and with Bryant. In 2015, they went 4-12 with Lee and without Bryant.

Ring a bell?

Take a poll of the other 31 NFL general managers and not one of them would rank Bryant outside Dallas’ Top 5 players.

But, then again, shame of anyone who actually lends credibility to PFF. They rank the Eagles’ roster No. 5.
