Joining the likes of guys like Kyle Seager and Matt Dominguez, it seems Chicago White Sox catcher Tyler Flowers is becoming a noted Rangers killer.
Granted, Seager has become an all-star caliber player after years of just murdering Rangers pitchers and struggling against everyone else, but now Flowers is on his way to that lofty status.
In Monday night's rain-shortened White Sox win, it was Flowers' hit that broke a tie shortly before the rain came, washed the game out and made it an official loss after 6 1/2 innings. He finished the night 3-for-3 with a triple and a homer to go with his late two-run single in the sixth, just before the game was called.
"We were close to getting out of that inning," Texas manager Ron Washington said. "We just didn't execute our last pitch, and Flowers, who was the star of the game tonight, took advantage of it."
Of all big-league teams, Flowers has had his greatest success against division rival Minnesota. Other than the Twins, he tortures the Rangers more than anyone he has had any number of at-bats worth mentioning against.
In his 16 career games against Texas, Flowers is batting .283 with a pair of homers, just shy of his .290 average against the Twins.
