Fielder Sends Early Message to Doubters

There was a growing concern among Rangers fans that Prince Fielder just wasn't right. Maybe his cervical fusion procedure that zapped his 2014 season was catching up with him? Whatever the case, he wasn't driving the ball like he was at times this year.

Fielder's double on Monday night was his first extra-base hit since Aug. 15, and on Tuesday night he followed that up with a big boom.

In the first inning on Tuesday night, Fielder smashed a ball over the wall in dead center fielder in a park that is one of the league's most pitcher-friendly yards in the league. It was a smash. It was authoritative, and it was about 30 feet off the ground as it left the park in a hurry.

Fielder went 2-for-5 on Tuesday with the homer, two RBIs and two runs scored. It was only his fourth long ball since the all-star break after he hit 14 in the season's first half. If he can get right again and go on a tear, say like in May when he hit nine bombs with 28 RBIs and a .377 batting average, the Rangers are going to be in very good shape.
