Feliz Has Early Streak Going

Remember when Neftali Feliz, this spring, said he'd be more comfortable remaining in the closer's role for the Texas Rangers? Then, after developing a cut fastball overnight, he changed his mind and said he wanted to be a starter.

Well, this can be one of those instances where you always go with your first instinct.

Feliz, who will some day be a starter in this league, has been unhittable — literally — this year.

In four appearances (two of them in save situations), Feliz has not allowed a single base runner and has four strikeouts, including one Tuesday night to clinch the game in the toughest situation he's faced so far this year — a one-run lead.

Feliz will eventually allow someone on base, and he'll probably give up a run at some point, but it looks like the decision to solidify the back of the bullpen with the reigning AL Rookie of the Year was the right decision, after all — especially if Matt Harrison, Derek Holland and whoever the fifth starter is after injuries heal, can hold down their end of the bargain.
