Tony Romo Set to Return to Starting Lineup, Terrell Owens Couldn’t Be Happier

The Cowboys are on their bye this weekend, and will use the extra time to regroup and get some key players healthy. Chief among them: quarterback Tony Romo, who injured the pinky finger on his throwing hand in an overtime loss to the Cardinals a month ago and has had to helplessly watch the dynamic duo of Brad Johnson and Brooks Bollinger commandeer Dallas to a 1-2 record in his absence.

That's not entirely fair -- the offense has been anemic, for sure, but the defense has been just as bad. But it looks like Romo will be ready to go when the team travels to Washington to face the Redskins on Nov. 16.

This must make fans very happy, particularly because at 5-4, the postseason isn't an impossibility (though, currently occupying last place in the division muddles things a bit). Happier yet: Terrell Owens, who endured unmentionable horrors over the previous three games:

"I can be frustrated, but if I go out and talk about being frustrated, then it's another story," Owens said. "For me, I just try to keep it in check and make the most of my opportunities. That's the only thing I can do. From here on out, all I can do is just run my routes and put what I do on film. If I'm open and I don't get the ball, then I don't get the ball. There's nothing really I can do. I can't throw and catch the ball myself. I can only just do what I can control."

To T.O.'s credit, he's not complaining, just very accepting of his fate. Plus, it wouldn't do much good to bellyache about Johnson or Bollinger not being being very good; yeah, that's hard to miss. They've been so alarmingly awful, in fact, that the "T.O. throws the ball to himself" play would've served as a nice distraction from it all.

Whatever, Romo's back and the Cowboys are hoping to salvage the season. On the upside, if they miss the playoffs, Wade Phillips is a goner, so there's that.
