The Dallas Cowboys’ fan base has been getting fed up with the team for a good while, but as of last week, one fan took their frustration to another level--namely, the White House.
Kind of, anyway.
On the White House’s official website, there is a section where citizens can create online petitions. In the day after Dallas’ Thanksgiving Day loss to the Washington Redskins, one particular citizen/Cowboys fan called Steven M of Ft. Benning, Georgia, decided to use the platform to call for the removal of Jerry Jones as owner and general manager Jerry Jones.
Here’s what Steven M says in his complaint:
“We, the Citizens of the Great State of Texas, and Dallas Cowboys fans worldwide, have been oppressed by an over controlling, delusional, oppressive dictator for way too long. Request the Executive Branch’s immediate assistance in removal of owner and GM, Jerry Jones. His incompetence and ego have not only been an extreme disappointment for way too long, but moreover, it has caused extreme mental and emotional duress.”
We love the idea here, one made all the funnier by the fact that Jerry is referred to as a “dictator.” After all, the White House has other, real dictators to worry about, none of whom earned that moniker by refusing to fire themselves as general manager of an NFL team. Anyway, we’d be more than a little shocked if anything ever came of this, but as of Tuesday afternoon, the petition had more than 2,000 signatures. So there’s that.
